Doug Is a very responsible student because in the begining of Blue Diamond it was a saturday night and he wanted to study for a big math test on monday. Quinn wanted to go out but Doug said,"Math midterm on Monday, my parents will be pissed if i dont pull a decent grade." This shows that he cares about getting good grades which makes him responsible since he was studying all of saturday evening. This makes Doug like Luke because he would listen to his uncle and be responsible to do the jobs his unlce had assigned to him everyday.
When Quinn took him to Las Vegas, which Doug didnt know means that this was his call to adventure. Quinn told him he would take him out for dinner but he drove by all the resturants then Doug questioned,"Where is the other Planet hollywood.""Just down the road a bit." Then Doug knew there was no other Planet Hollywood. "Where down the road?" Then Quinn hesitated and finally said,"Las Vegas." This is the call to adeventure because they have to go on a quest which Doug is not to thrilled about. Luke gets the call to adventure when he wants to become a jedi and his guardians died from a fire in his home.
Once Doug finds out that Quinn wants to kill himself in Las Vegas he is faced with tests/ordeals/hero deeds where he has to stop Quinn from pulling the trigger on his life. Doug freaks out at Quinn for using his parents money at Las Vegas,"whats wrong with you? Your parents'll ground you off the face of the earth!" "Yeah, but i wont be on the face of the earth." Doug soon enough gets what he means and realizes he only has so much time before his best friend will kill himself. Luke can relate because at one point he has to excaspe the trash compressor as a tests/ordeals/hero deeds.
